Eating properly is the hardest part of trying to stay fit when on the road. While travelling, many of us stray away from our routine and splurge by eating takeout and junk food. Since we are tired, stressed, and have no time to cook, we end up creating excuses for ourselves to stray away from good habits.

If you do not have an exercise routine at home, you are not going to develop one on the road. The stronger and more engrained the workout habit is during your regular daily life, the easier it is to maintain that fitness level on the road. Fortunately, most decent hotels now have a gym, and there is almost always a treadmill and free weights available for you to use.  Sometimes, simple walking is the best option. Always try to have a map of the city in hand and ask at the front desk if a route is walkable and safe.

Another dilemma faced by all travellers is the minibar problem. After a long business day, you may decide to indulge in the delicious treats purposely left behind and before you know it, you’ve gobbled them all up and your hotel bill has skyrocketed! Here is a tip: Leave the minibar key at the hotel desk and avoid temptation altogether.
